Nima Beta 4 (PhysX for Maya)

Post by claforte »

We are pleased to announce that Nima, the PhysX plug-in for Maya, has reached the Beta 4 milestone. We extend our gratitude to our very active beta testers and to Ageia for their continued financial support.

Nima allows artists and developers to author and interactively manipulate complex physical assets including rigid bodies and constraints. Nima is available for free, along with documentation and movies, from the Feeling Software web site: http://www.feelingsoftware.com/index.ph ... 67&lang=en

PhysX, previously known as Novodex, is a Physics engine designed for high performance games and applications, as demonstrated by the large number of game studios who adopted it for their next gen titles. Nima exposes the power and performance of Ageia's PhysX engine in Maya, and supports interchange standards such as Collada Physics.

Beta 4 adds the following features important features:

* Added support for non-convex meshes, through the rigid body's geometryType attribute.
* Added simple ?Bake rigid bodies? functionality, to bake a simulation into keyframes for each rigid body.
* Fixed rewind so that it occurs at both frame 0 and frame 1. This is consistent with how Maya's native rigid body dynamics work.
