About

Bounce is a 3D physics engine for games. It supports many different features. It was released a few months ago but had not been published properly. For those not worried about Continuous Collision and Soft Bodies, it can be used as an alternative to engines such as ODE or Bullet. A few people uses it as a reference when writing intense 3D math or physics related code. It has a very friendly API.

Features

Common

  • Efficient data structures with no use of STL
  • Stack and small block allocators
  • Built-in math library
  • Tunable settings used across the entire library

Collision

  • Dynamic tree broadphase
  • Static tree "midphase"
  • SAT
  • GJK
  • Spheres, capsules, hulls, triangle meshes
  • Optimized pair management

Dynamics

  • Rigid bodies
  • Clothes and Ropes (can be used as decorations because are not world entities)
  • Contact, friction, restitution
  • Mouse, weld, spring, spherical, conical, revolute joint types
  • Joint motors, limits
  • Constraint graphs
  • Simulation islands and sleep management
  • Linear time solvers
  • Stable shape stacking
  • One-shot contact manifolds
  • Contact clustering, reduction, and persistence
  • Contact callbacks: begin, pre-solve, post-solve
  • Ray-casting and volume queries

Testbed

  • OpenGL with GLFW and GLAD
  • UI by imgui
  • Mouse picking
  • premake build system
