Simulating physics to reflect other worlds, developer wanted

Post by Plugimi »

Hello

this may sound like a strange topic but bear with me for a moment. I'm collaborating with a theoretical physicist on an project right now as part of a residency at the Eyebeam Art and Technology Center in NYC. The whole thing came out of a conversation about other realities and their likeliness and the simulation of our own.

Our plan is to construct an installation or an environment which will depict/simulate another world in terms of its laws of nature. While we're not completely sure yet about the parameters we want to tweak, we think that this is part of the process of understanding the way these things are simulated and an interesting question in itself.

We are wondering whether Bullet (possibly being integrated in the Blender game engine) could be a good basis for the simulation of something like that and whether there are people here who would be able to help with the development on a relatively short time-frame? There is a bit of funding available.

Either way, it would be great to get a better insight in how Bullet works and what is being simulated, if somebody could point us towards some papers or documentation that would be great.

Many thanks
Sascha
